Aug 31, 2010 · If anyone wants to recreate the problem: 1. turn off the car. 2. open the door (thats when I hear the motor engaging the steering column lock, it doesn't do it until the door gets opened) 3. turn the steering wheel and hold it to keep the tension. 4. try to start the car by pushing the button. #1 · Nov 23, 2017. Get a phillips head screwdriver and remove the 2 screws holding the little off-white connector at the rear of the module (it has the wires to the ignition running to it). I haven't checked your wiring diagram, but I presume that power comes through the ignition switch. If that is correct, I would consider replacing the switch if it happens again. I opened the door Panel and found it was a broken lock actuator. I think I picked up an entire actuator assembly for about $80 or $100. Took me about 2 hours to replace with some YouTube video help!
